Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 June 2026

This policy explains how Meridian Passenger Claims Inc., operating as FlightCompanion CA ("we", "us"), handles the personal information you give us through this website. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the consent rules of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not submit the form.

1. Who is responsible for your information

FlightCompanion CA is operated by Meridian Passenger Claims Inc., a private commercial entity registered in Canada (Business Number 59274 8130 RC0001), at 1250 René-Lévesque Blvd West, Suite 2200, Montreal, QC H3B 4W8. We are the organization accountable for the personal information described here. We are not affiliated with the Canadian Transportation Agency, Transport Canada, any airline, or any government body.

2. What we collect

When you complete the eligibility form, we collect only what you choose to enter:

  • your name and email address (required so we can reply);
  • your phone number, if you provide it (optional);
  • flight details: the airline, route, flight date, booking reference (optional), the type of disruption, and any notes you add.

We do not ask for payment-card numbers, government identifiers, or other sensitive data through this form. Please do not include information you would rather not share in the free-text notes. We also process a limited amount of technical data through cookies — see our Cookie Policy.

3. Why we use it

We use the information you submit for these purposes, and no others:

  • to assess whether your flight disruption appears to qualify for compensation under the APPR or EU EC 261;
  • to contact you with the result of that assessment and to answer your questions;
  • if you ask us to proceed, to help you pursue a formal claim;
  • to keep records required for our legitimate business and legal obligations.

4. Your consent (PIPEDA & CASL)

We collect and use your information on the basis of the express consent you give by ticking the consent box and submitting the form. That box also gives us your consent under CASL to send you electronic messages about your assessment. You can withdraw consent at any time — see section 7 — and every email we send will include a way to unsubscribe. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer continue an assessment for you.

5. How we store and protect it

Submissions are stored on access-controlled systems and are available only to the people who handle assessments. We apply reasonable physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • with service providers who help us operate (for example, secure hosting or email delivery), bound to use it only for that purpose;
  • with a claims partner or representative only if you ask us to proceed with a formal claim and authorize it;
  • where required by law, a court order, or to protect our legal rights.

If a provider operates outside Canada, your information may be processed in another country and be subject to that country's laws.

7. How long we keep it & your rights

We keep enquiry details only as long as needed for the purpose collected — generally up to 24 months after our last contact — after which they are deleted, unless an active claim or a legal obligation requires longer. Under PIPEDA you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw your consent and ask us to delete your information (subject to legal limits);
  • ask a question or make a complaint about how we handle your data.

To exercise any of these, email claims@flightcompanionca.com or write to the Montreal address above. We respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.

8. Children

This service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The "last updated" date above shows the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.

10. Contact & complaints

Questions or privacy requests: claims@flightcompanionca.com or +1 (514) 907-3284. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees PIPEDA.
